What to eat in rainy season?????

So my dear Mummas and Pappas! Monsoon has arrived (in India). I love this season for many reasons. For that earthy smell of wet soil, the joy of eating hot homemade food, and soups, and getting soaked (occasionally) in the rain. Even sitting with a cup of tea and watching the showers pouring makes me feel happy. However, as much as we adore the monsoon, there are some things we must be mindful of, especially when it comes to our family’s (children’s in specific) health, food choices, and immunity.

And we don’t need any fancy solutions. Here are 10 superfoods that are available in our kitchen. Let’s discover what to eat in rainy season with these common yet powerful superfoods.

Guess what, moms, these superfoods are such that you can even include them in your little one’s tiffin!

What to eat in rainy season?

During the monsoons, we should go for local and seasonal foods that are easily available around us. We can go for those food items that are easily digestible and boost immunity. Eating warm and fresh-cooked meals is the best way to keep our family monsoon-ready.

Why should we eat clean during monsoon?

Eating clean during the monsoons has been encouraged by both modern science and Ayurveda.

According to Ayurveda, Vata and Pitta doshas clash during the rainy season. This weakens the digestive fire, which slows down digestion.  As per an article in the NIH, humidity alters gut bacteria.

Immunity Against Monsoon Bugs

The monsoon spike seasonal illnesses like influenza, cold and flu.  A study by NIH shows that kids aged between 4-5 years were the most affected by the virus even during the pre-monsoon period.
